You've been selected. Here's what happens next.
If the Department of Employment and Labour has confirmed your place on a UIF-funded skills programme delivered by Kaylord, this page tells you what to expect — and how to get in touch with us.
If anyone asks you for money to confirm your place, secure your stipend, or guarantee your selection, they are lying. Report them to report@kaylord.org.
How selection actually works
Kaylord does not recruit learners directly. The Department of Employment and Labour identifies eligible candidates from the UIF database — people who have been employed and contributed to UIF, and now need to retrain to get back into employment.
Once Labour has confirmed your eligibility and selected you for a cohort, your details are passed to Kaylord. We are then responsible for your induction, training, workplace component, and monthly stipend.
If you have not been contacted by the Department of Employment and Labour, you have not been selected. The path to selection runs through your nearest Labour Centre — not through Kaylord.
Confirm your details with Kaylord
If you've been selected by Labour and want to confirm your details with us ahead of your induction, share the following so we can match your record to the cohort list.
Online learner-confirmation form coming soon.
In the meantime, send the following to info@kaylord.org:
- Full name (exactly as on your ID)
- South African ID number
- Cellphone number
- District you live in
- The Labour Centre that referred you
- The training stream you've been allocated to (if known)
What to bring to induction
When the Department or your Kaylord coordinator confirms your induction date, bring:
- Your South African ID (green book or smart card).
- Your highest completed qualification (matric certificate, school report, or any post-school certificate).
- Proof of address in one of the five Limpopo districts — a recent utility bill or affidavit is fine.
- Your bank account details — your stipend will be paid into your own account every month. If you don't have one, bring your ID and we'll guide you on opening one at induction.
- A pen.
You don't need a CV, a printed application form, or any payment. The only people you should be paying are the bank to open your stipend account — and that's optional, not a Kaylord fee.
Stipends and attendance
The monthly stipend is paid into your bank account for the full duration of the programme — six months — across both the theoretical phase (Months 1–3) and the practical phase (Months 4–6).
The stipend is tied to your attendance. Days you don't attend are deducted from the monthly amount on a pro-rata basis. The reason is simple: this is a public-funded retraining programme, and the funder requires accurate attendance for every rand paid.
If you are unable to attend on a given day — illness, family emergency, transport problems — tell your site coordinator before the day, not after. Honest absences with notice are managed differently from unexplained absences.
Haven't been contacted by Labour?
If you believe you may be eligible — you have previously been employed, contributed to UIF, and are currently looking for retraining and re-employment support — your first stop is your nearest Department of Employment and Labour office. Selection for UIF-funded skills programmes is a Labour function, not a Kaylord one.
You can find your nearest Labour Centre on the Department of Employment and Labour website, or by visiting any provincial government service point.
